Master Classes and Workshops

Mark Garcia offers a unique and personal approach to the continuing vocal and stage performance development of students and professional singers of musical theatre, pop, rock and classical singing. Originally trained as a classical singer, Mr. Garcia’s first vocal studies began with the Italian Bel Canto technique, then were later expanded into the more modern vocal techniques necessary for musical theatre, pop and rock singing.

Mr. Garcia brings more than 35 years of international professional singing and stage experience, as well as over 25 years of teaching and vocal coaching experience to his Master Classes and Workshops. Each class is individually tailored to fit the needs of each and every group of singing actors. Master Classes and Workshops are offered in all of the above mentioned musical genres, but are never limited to one particular vocal technique nor musical style, unless specifically requested.

A Note to Classical Singers

As we notice in the fast-changing world of professional music, singers are finding it necessary to broaden their knowledge of vocal technique and style, if they want to work and be competitive and marketable in the music industry today. The days of being only a classical singer are changing as we see singers becoming more flexible with their vocal technique and styles . More and more classical singers are making “crossover” recordings and springing from the opera stage to musical productions. Singers and teachers of singing should try to understand that “crossover” is not a bad word, nor does it lessen the artistic quality and value of a good singing actor or actress. Exploring good, sound and “safe” vocal techniques should be the desire of any singer wishing to work in today’s music world. The same needs to be said for teachers of singing who need to consider updating their teaching practices by exploring new ideas. Expanding one’s knowledge of vocal technique should not threaten nor jeopardize any good, solid existing vocal technique. Expanding our vocal technique knowledge is a “good thing” and a very “necessary thing” today.
